AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a rapid response ambulance car was attacked and damaged in Highbridge. 

Police were called at 5.30pm on Sunday March 26 after reports of criminal damage to a Swift Response vehicle on Caxton Drive in Highbridge. 

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at 5.30pm on Sunday to reports of criminal damage to a Swift Response vehicle on Caxton Drive, Highbridge.

"We've conducted house to house enquiries and a we are looking at a number of other of lines of enquiry.

"No-one has been arrested at this stage."

The vehicle sustained significant damage and has been taken off the road for repairs.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service, said: “I can confirm that an incident occurred in Highbridge resulting in a SWASFT rapid response vehicle sustaining significant damage.

"It is currently off the road undergoing repairs and it is likely to be several days before it can be used operationally again.

"The matter is being dealt with by the police.”
