A FULL programme of events has been lined up in Bishops Lydeard to mark Somerset Day.

The fun starts with much of the village yarnbombed between May 6 and 28, with crocheted plaques sponsored by local businesses to raise money for local causes.

The weekend of Somerset Day - which actually falls on Thursday, May 11 - will see plenty of entertainment and activities.

A ceilidh is taking place in the village hall on Saturday, May 13, with tickets at £7, £5 for under 16s or £20 for families available from The Fruit & Flower Basket or Paper Shop Plus.

Earlier in the day, BBC Somerset presenter, Ben McGrail will open the Somerset Day events in the hall from 11am to 4pm, with entry by donation.

There will be crafts, Miles tea room, bar, entertainment including Allana Chloe and Wellington Majorettes, bouncy castles, donkey rides, face painting and more.

Entry by donation and all money goes to St. Mary's church floor restoration and Bishops Lydeard Pre-School.

Gore Farm will host a free classic or vintage vehicle show following a tour of the village on the Sunday.

The farm will also stage a fun dog show the same day, with a dog agility display, crafts, food and drinks, donkey rides, radio control cars, bouncy castle and more.

For baking fans, there are two competitions, one for children to decorate cupcakes with a Somerset theme, the other to find the best 'Taunton Cake'.

Recipes and entry forms available from The Fruit and Flower Basket and Paper Shop Plus, with judging taking place during the day at Gore Farm.

The weekend will raise money for the floor restoration at St Mary's Church and Bishops Lydeard Pre-School.
