TAUNTON is leading the way in efforts to ban nuclear weapons.
More than 50 people - more than anywhere else in the country - signed a petition in Taunton High Street on Saturday calling on the UK government to take part in United Nations talks to outlaw nuclear arms.
Mike McGuffie, one of the Taunton organisers, said: "This is a great opportunity to move forward on multi-lateral disarmament.
"Making nuclear weapons illegal in all countries will help make the world safer in the 21st Century."
