A TEAM of hardy runners have raised more than £5,100 for Somerset Sight after taking part in The Vitality Bath Half Marathon.

There were 14 runners on the team, four of the runners were visually impaired, and one who is totally blind, ran with a guide.

Heidi Linegar, visually impaired runner, said: “Running the Bath Half was a real challenge.

“I was inspired to raise money for such a great cause that has changed mine and so many other people’s lives for the better. I wanted to show everyone that no matter what barriers you face in life you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.”

Somerset Sight is a not for profit organisation providing practical and emotional support to over 3000 people and their families across the county who are blind or visually impaired.

Holly Sutton, Somerset Sight’s development officer, said “Running a half marathon is a huge achievement.

"I’d like to congratulate all the runners on a great race, im so proud of all of them. Without the generosity of our supporters we simply would not be able to continue providing our vital services.”
