PLANS for a 111 development near North Petherton have been objected by residents.

Residents raised a string of concerns at a town council meeting on Monday, March 20.

The town council also decided unanimously to formally object to the plans for a further 111 properties on the Dawes Farm site in Stockmoor.

Plans were submitted to Sedgemoor District Council by Persimmon Severn Valley for the development at the end of February.

But rafter listening to a string of concerns from residents including an already over-subscribed primary school, the council agreed to object on several grounds.

Main issues raised were that the site would be over developed, that the transport assessment takes insufficient account of the current problems at the Huntworth roundabout and along Willstock Way and of the future impact of further developments such as those on the Gateway site and Wilstock.

There were also concerns about parking, flooding, the lack of community facilities in the area, and insufficient consultation.

Persimmon has been contacted for a comment.
