A MOTORCYCLIST who died following a crash with a lorry in Taunton has been named.

Paul Young, 53, was involved in a collision with a stationary lorry in Crown Close at about 2.40pm on Friday, March 10.

His inquest was opened and adjourned today (March 14) at the Coroner's Court at the Old Municipal Building in Taunton.

The coroner said the initial cause of death was believed to be due to a haemorrhage and multiple fractures to the pelvis.

Mr Young, from Marston Magna who was described as an experienced motorcyclist by Avon and Somerset Police.

He was on a training course on the Crown Industrial Estate.

He approached a T-junction, stopped and then proceeded to turn right into Crown Close.

He is reported to have lost control of the bike which collided with a parked stationary lorry.

He sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene shortly afterwards.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Collison investigators are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help their enquiries.

"Anyone able to help is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting reference CI/47/17."

The inquest has been adjourned to June 14 at the earliest.
