PUPILS from Queen's College enjoyed a Spanish adventure as they journeyed to the cities of Malaga and Cordoba.

Sixteen Year 10 pupils took part in the trip to practise their language skills and to embrace the food, culture and history of the country.

The students visited a secondary school Friday, February 10, where they were greeted with a warm welcome and were able to put their Spanish skills to the test.

Other activities included indulging in churros and chocolate and traditional tapas, a flamenco lesson and sightseeing in the historic old part of Malaga city.

Laura Schofield, head of Spanish, said: "The students we enjoyed a few moments of sunshine as well before returning to the hostel for a flamenco lesson. The group did really well and managed to link all the tricky steps together.

"On Sunday, the party had another very busy day sightseeing in the historic old part of Malaga city. They visited the Contemporary Arts Centre where they are currently exhibiting works by Mark Ryden, the inspiration for Lady Gaga’s famous meat dress and the creator of the artwork for Michael Jackson’s Dangerous album cover.

"The group also visited the Arabic fortress Alcazaba overlooking the Mediterranean and later the Pompidou Centre before a final pizza dinner at the harbour.

"While the weather was unseasonably drizzly, all the pupils kept in good spirits and were such a credit to the school, even when they had to be up early for the flight home.

"Well done to everyone for all their efforts to speak Spanish and embrace the culture, it was a wonderful trip."
