A SOLICITOR who likes a challenge was thrilled this week after he completed the Tough Guy challenge.

Kieran Hughes, a solicitor in Pardoes criminal law team in Bridgwater has just returned from Wolverhampton after competing in one of the most demanding one day survival challenges in the world.

Kieran said: "“Suffering with exhaustion and mild hypothermia, 5,800 competed at Tough Guy with a mass start.

" There were competitors from all over the world.

"It was without doubt one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it was well worth it”.

First staged in 1987, the Tough Guy Challenge is thought to be one of the hardest races of its type with up to one third of the starters failing to finish in a typical year.

Kieran says he is a glutton for punishment, having completed no less than 9 marathons and 40 races in the past twelve months whilst still managing to work as a duty solicitor in and around the courts in Somerset.

"I’m still thinking of competing in the European Championships but will need further training for the technical obstacles."
