A PREP school in Taunton has been described as a “terrific all-rounder” in a recent review from an independent schooling guide.

Taunton Prep School, on Staplegrove Road, was reviewed by The Good Schools Guide for January 2017.

The review spoke highly of the school and said it had “wonderfully welcoming” staff and that children who attended the school were in academically “very safe hands”.

It said: “Academically a very safe pair of hands across the board – just the right blend of extra-mile dedication and judicious professionalism. Every subject is well resourced.

“Parents of bright children tell us their child is stretched but not to snapping point, parents whose children need support tell us that’s what they get, and never in such a way as to make them feel like dawdlers.”

Duncan Sinclair, headmaster at the school, said he was delighted with the review.

Mr Sinclair said: “We are thrilled to get such a glowing review from the expert panel at the Good Schools Guide who look at hundreds of schools up and down the country.

“It is reassuring to know that from spending this time with us all the things that we take pride in ensuring are present at our school shone through.

“Knowing our pupils really well and tailoring our teaching and learning to each individual is at the centre of what we do.”

The review also commended the school for its cleanliness, stating the reviewers had “never seen a cleaner school” and raved about the cleaning staff that clearly enjoyed their work.

The school was also highlighted for taking its sport very seriously, with former England batsman Marcus Trescothick and former England netball team manager Lisa Manley coaching at the school.

Although the school appreciates the teaching sporting stars, it also crowns one of its own every week during Monday morning assembly.
