A FAMILY-run brewery businesses is insisting the show will go on despite being placed into administration.

Quantock Brewery Ltd, based in Bishops Lydeard, announced on its website yesterday (January 18) that it had gone into administration.

The company was launched in 2007 and said on Facebook that it will continue to trade as normal while a buyer is found who can take the business forward.

It is understood that no jobs will be lost at the firm despite being in administration.

Cheryl Ford, director at the firm, said the firm was forced to go into administration because of the "challenging" industry, but insisted that the firm would be continuing to brew its popular beer.

She said: "We are in administration, but we are still open and still going forward, and will still be holding our events this weekend.

"We intend to carry on trading as normal. We have got a fantastic product, but the brewing industry is very tough at the moment, there is not enough pubs to take our stock and because we are in quite a rural area, it is even more challenging.

"We aren't the first to go into administration, and we won't be the last.

"But, we are keeping positive and going forward. We haven't shut, we are not going into liquidation and I want to reinforce that we remain open for trading, and we will still host our events this weekend.

"We are looking for more investment and some more backing, and hopefully we can get that and come back from this setback bigger and better."

After the company went into administration, the firm announced it on its Facebook page.

Somerset County Gazette:

The full post reads: "As some of you may have seen from the official blurb via our Website, it is with deep regret that following a very difficult trading period we must announce that QUANTOCK BREWERY LTD has gone into administration.

"We will continue trading as normal while a buyer who can take the business forward is found.

"Massive thanks to all our customers , suppliers , friends and family for their continued support and to our brew crew for their loyalty & hard work.

"Support Your Local Brewery."

Since that post, the company has been inundated with messages of support, and Ms Ford said: "We have had some really lovely messages of support and kind words, and I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has messaged us."

The official statement on the website said: "Quantock Brewery Limited is now In Administration with Eric Walls & Wayne Harrison appointed as Joint Administrators.

"The affairs, business and property of the company are being managed by the Administrators acting as agents of the company without personal liability."
