THE UK Men's Shed Association has teamed up with Sedgemoor District Council to host an open evening to encourage people to find out more about the men's shed project.

Men's Shed is a project aimed to encourage men to pursue practical interests and to learn new skills from others.

A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council said: "A Men's Shed is a larger version of the typical men's shed in the garden - a place where he feels at home with a high degree of autonomy.

"A Men's Shed offers this to a group of such men where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly inclusive venue.

"They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning of individual pursuits and community projects of purpose, achievement and social interaction.

"A place where people can work together."

The open evening will be on February 9 and March 9 from 7pm to 9pm at The Old Courthouse in Burnham-on-Sea.
