A TAUNTON violence prevention charity has gained a full-time teacher thanks to an award from a mobile phone company.

Stand Against Violence (SAV) was selected to win a £1,000 award by the team at Vodafone in Taunton in December 2015.

The charity was set up by Adam Fouracre after his brother Lloyd was murdered while walking home from a party.

SAV works with schools and organisations across the region to deliver educational workshops on violence prevention.

The award has been used to employ Megan Crossley, who will run the sessions.

Adam Fouracre, CEO of Stand Against Violence, said: “The Vodafone donation has enabled us to employ a full time teacher to deliver our school based work, as well as to train others.

"She will be instrumental in the success and future of the charity, as well as in helping us reach as many young people as possible with our successful violence prevention message.”

The Vodafone Community Connection Awards were launched in 2014 to help make a difference to causes in the area.

Duncan Gibson, Vodafone store manager in Taunton, said “Educating young people on the importance of staying away from violence is crucial – we’re so glad the award money has been used to help do this”.
