FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a barn fire near North Newton in the early hours of this morning.
Crews from Bridgwater and Taunton attended the fire which broke out around 4am this morning (January 4).
On arrival crews confirmed the steel and brick barn measuring 20m by 10m was well alight and quickly got to work.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The barn containing approximately 10 bales of broken hay and wood was 10 per cent damaged by fire but the contents were destroyed.
"At its height crews used four breathing apparatus cylinders, two main jets and two hose reel jets supplied from open water to extinguish the fire. Police and Fire investigation will be returning in daylight."
