BRIDGWATER Carnival organisers have released a schedule telling residents when the Christmas carnival carts will be on parade over the festive period.

The release comes fresh after the success of Bridgwater Carnival with huge crowds turning out to see the carnival club carts in action.

The Christmas carts attract hundreds of people each year and are a huge hit with young children who have a chance to meet Father Christmas.

The festive carts will begin their circuit on December 2 at St Joseph’s School, before visiting various locations every day and finishing on December 24 at Moto Services.

Mark Robson, Christmas cart coordinator said: “I always enjoy organising the carts with the Christmas theme and going out on the streets and watching the kids’ eyes light up. It will be lovely to see people turn out. The best bit for me is going out around the housing estates and the children can come out and see Santa, they all get very excited for it.

“We have been doing the Christmas carts for about 18 years and children come out with their letters for Santa, it is heartwarming.

“People get into the spirit of things, it is nice to see all of it. It is draining for the volunteers and organisers because we have had a busy year.

“We have had no time for rest really because after the carnival ended on the Monday preparations started for the Christmas carts and arrangements had to be made for drivers and other things.

“The whole process is very rewarding for all people involved in organising it. It brings a real sense of community spirit to Bridgwater which is such a wonderful thing to see.”

“The schedule is quite jam packed but we don’t want anyone to miss out and hope that people will turn out to see the cart.

“The carts are all staffed by volunteers and the organisers all put in so much effort each year to get this organised and I want to say a huge thank you to them all for their continued efforts.”

Bridgwater Carnival organisers have had yet another busy year with volunteers working around the clock to ensure that carts are ready for the carnival and the Christmas schedule.
