A WELLINGTON lighting company is spreading some festive cheer more than 400 miles away.

The Festive Lighting Company designs, manufactures and installs lighting displays for towns and cities across the UK.

Its newest contract is to light up Glasgow during the Scottish city’s Christmas celebrations.

The contract is to decorate the columns outside the city chamber building in George Square with Christmas tree-shaped lights.

Andy Hill, director of The Festive Lighting Company, said: “The business has really taken off over the past few years, and we’re looking forward to lighting up Glasgow’s iconic George Square this month.

“We’re now supplying lighting displays to more than 200 towns and cities in the UK and want to increase this on the back of our reputation for high quality products.

“Due to the seasonal nature of our business, the working capital facility from Lloyds Bank is vital to our growth plans.

“It has enabled us to main- tain a consistent cash flow throughout the year as we target new contracts and in- vest in our equipment and materials.”

Glasgow City Council has appointed Edinburgh-based Christmas lighting specialists Field and Lawn to undertake installation works.

The installation was supported by a six-figure working capital facility provided by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, which helps the company maintain a steady cash flow throughout the year, supporting its growth plans to expand its presence in cities across the UK.

Will Kite, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “The switch on of city centre Christmas lights is a tradition that for many marks the beginning of the festive season, and cities can see economic benefit from the increased number of visitors that the displays like the one in Glasgow attract.

“We’re committed to supporting small to medium businesses like The Festive Lighting Company and helping them grow and to underline this, since 2011 we have increased our net lending to SMEs by 29 per cent whilst the market has contracted by 12 per cent.”
