TWO men are being hunted by police after a man in his eighties is believed to have been assaulted and robbed yesterday.

Police are also trying to identify the victim of the attack, which took place shortly after 3pm outside the toilet block opposite Lidl Supermarket, Boden Street.

A police spokesman said: "We are trying to identify a man who we believe was assaulted yesterday afternoon (November 13) in Chard.

"We believe a man, described as being in his eighties, was assaulted by two young men outside the toilet block opposite Lidl Supermarket on Boden Street at approximately 3.10 pm.

"We suspect the man was also robbed in addition to being assaulted and we very much want to speak to him."

DS Chris Palmer, from the Somerset investigations team, said: “We have reason to believe that an elderly man was attacked in Chard and we are obviously concerned for him. We would ask that he get in touch with us.”

The victim is described as being white and possibly in his 80s. He had dark hair and a little facial stubble.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, grey jumper and grey jogging bottoms, which had a logo/symbol on them. He was also possibly wearing a hearing aid.
