A CAR was destroyed in an arson attack in Bishops Lydeard on Monday night.
Firefighters were called to Mill Lane in Bishops Lydeard shortly before midnight on Monday, October 24 following calls from several members of the public.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue: "On arrival the crew confirmed the car was well alight and set to work extinguishing it with two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.
"Shortly after arriving both police and Western Power were requested to attend, as the fire was confirmed to have been started deliberately and the car was directly under overhead power cables posing a potential hazard.
"Once extinguished duty of care was left with the Police and vehicle owner. The car was 70 per cent destroyed by fire."
