THE Taunton Deane Divas WI hosted an independent market.
The market was held at St James Church hall on Monday night, where businesses from the area gathered to sell produce.
WI president Jen Whitworth said: “The autumn market was a huge success, with lots of people attending – at one point it was hard to move around.
“The atmosphere was fabulous, with many people staying the whole evening enjoying the tea, cake and wine after their shopping.
“We had a good range of craft stalls, each selling perfect gifts for family and friends – many were made locally in Taunton.
“Not only did we showcase local businesses and stressed the importance of shopping locally, we also showcased Taunton’s splendid craft work. Everyone had a great evening, so much so, we have been asked to do another one next year.”
The market was hosted as part of the WI’s “shop locally” resolution, as it believes that is the key to a thriving town.
