STAFF and customers at Taunton's M&S were in tea party mood today (Friday, September 30).

The store was doing its bit to support Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

As well as serving huge amounts of coffee and cake, employees dressed as Disney characters for the day and held a treasure hunt and a silent auction.

The Taunton store's efforts were part of a nationwide fundraising drive by M&S in what is the retailer’s seventh year of supporting the annual charity event.

The company has raised more than £6million for Macmillan during this time, helping to fund more specialist Macmillan services in local communities across the UK.

Stephen Deacon, store manager at M&S Taunton, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our shoppers for helping us to raise such a phenomenal amount for such a worthy cause.

"We very much appreciate everyone’s efforts and especially staff throughout the store who have been working hard behind the scenes over the last few weeks to help make this year’s coffee morning extra special.”

Fundraising efforts for the coffee morning have been underway at M&S since the start of September, with ten per cent of each sale from a variety of products going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
