POPULAR clothing brand Jack Wills could be making its way to Taunton.

The British-based retailer, popular with young adults, has submitted a planning application to Taunton Deane Council, for a store on Fore Street.

If permission is granted, the store would be where the former Vision Express store was.

The company was launched in 1999 in Salcombe, Devon and describes itself as offering the highest quality menswear, women’s clothing, accessories and homewares.

There are now in excess of 80 stores in the UK and abroad.

Although a decision is yet to be made on the application, the brand is already advertising jobs.

There is only one comment currently on the application, offering support for the store.

The comment is from the business development manager at Taunton Deane Borough Council, David Evans.

It says: "I am really pleased to see this application by Jack Wills.

"This is a prestigious national retailer, selling a high quality product that is entirely suited to Taunton’s own ambitious regeneration plans.

"The refurbishment proposed will safeguard and improve the unit for retail within the town centre and will create employment opportunities.

"I am therefore fully supportive of the application."

A spokesperson for the store said they were unable to comment at this time.
