TICKETS for this year's Glastonbury Festival will go on general sale on October 9 - costing £238 plus a £5 booking fee.

While coach  and ticket packages will be released at 6pm on Thursday, October 6, the general sale takes place from 9am on Sunday, October 9, organisers have announced.

Meanwhile, organisers also confirmed the next 'fallow' year at the Somerset site will be 2018.

A spokesman said: "We can also confirm that we will be taking our next fallow year in 2018, in order to give the farm, the village and the festival team the traditional year off.

"There are no plans to hold an event at another location in 2018."

Anyone hoping to secure a ticket to the event, which will be held at Worthy Farm, Pilton, between June 21 to 25, needs to make sure they are registered beforehand at www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk.
