THE August bank holiday saw visitors celebrating the Secret World Summer Party, a day of activities, games and all round fun.

The day was a success with hundreds of people gathering at Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill to join in the celebrations.

Secret World’s CEO David Foulds said: “We were extremely pleased with the amount of visitors who came along to our Summer Party. This event was something new for us to offer the holiday crowd.

"We were also delighted to welcome the Exmoor Pony Centre for the first time to Secret World with their star pony, Tom, who proved very popular.”

Families came face to face with Secret World’s resident owls Daphne and Star, Tom the Exmoor Pony and even Secret World’s resident snake Tony for those who were brave enough. When not meeting the animals, children could be found playing ‘down the clown’ and getting their faces painted amongst many other activities.

And of course what would be a summer party without food? With a café, a cake stand as long as their barn and a jacket potato stall run by their very own Keith Weston and David Foulds, it’s safe to say no one went hungry.

But as one event finishes the busy team at Secret World are preparing for the next.

Mr Foulds said: “We are now gearing up for our next major event which is Music in the Meadow with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel on Saturday, September 7 and then we have the Secret World of Hedgehogs weekend from 22-24 October with the added attraction of our sponsored firewalk, Face the Fire.”
