A WOMAN was treated for smoke inhalation after a tumble dryer caught on fire at a property in Monkton Heathfield.

Crews were called to Ginger Place at around 8.50pm on Tuesday night as an accidental fire broke out.

Two fire engines from Wellington and One from Taunton attended.

The fire was contained to the tumble dryer but caused a lot of smoke throughout the house and the neighbouring property.

One woman was suffering from smoke inhalation so an ambulance was called and the fire service treated her with oxygen therapy.

Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear the smoke and ensure the property and the neighbouring building were safe.

A hose reel and covering jet was used to extinguish the fire.

The gas and electric was isolated at the property.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 8.53pm last night to Ginger Place in Monkton Heathfield.
