RUNNING enthusiasts are putting in their last few training sessions ahead of the 30th annual Taunton 10k road race.

So far 400 people have signed up for the 700 places - and anyone else wishing to take part is advised to put their name down quickly as the even has sold out before its closing date in four of the last five years.

The run on Sunday, September 25, sponsored by Deane DLO, starts and finishes at Blackbrook Pavilion and takes in the Holway area before heading out into the country via Stoke St Mary and Haydon.

Race director John Lewis said he expects all places to be taken before the closing date of September 14.

He added: “The limit is set to reflect the narrow roads on part of the course, traffic conditions and the facilities at Blackbrook Pavilion.

"We feel it’s better to disappoint those who don’t get a place than to compromise safety in any way.”
