THIS WEEKEND there is a whole host of activities going on throughout the county - why not check them out:

  • A festival to celebrate all things canine is being held at Londrun Meadow.

On Saturday, August 13, the park will be full of the waggiest tails and wettest noses as the park Friends group joins forces with Pam Shaw Canine Consultants.

The group of dog behaviourists helping to organise the festival hope to raise money for smaller and lesser known dog-related charities.

Admission if free and goody bags are available to all who attend. The festival runs from 11am until 4pm. Those wishing to enter the dog show can do so on the day. 

  • A meet the Army recruitment day is taking place in Vivary Park.

Visitors will get the chance to speak to regular army units/corps to learn about roles and trades available. 

Free activities are at the park including exploring the equipment and kits the British Army works with

The event takes place from 10am until 4pm. 

  • Blackdown Beer Fest will be at Smeatharpe for its 20th year. 

More than 40 beers and ciders will be available to drink throughout the weekend. 

Mad Dog Mcrea will be headlining the festival.

  • Minehead HarbourFest takes place on Saturday and Sunday. 

An array of activities are going on throughout the weekend including raft races, live music and fireworks. 

All money raised goes to the RNLI. 

  • Watchet will be filled with live music and beer as Bellfest takes place this weekend.

The three-day charity event at the Bell Inn is now in its fourth year. 

All money raised will be split between Alzheimer UK and local charity Elliot's Touch. 

  • Those wishing to take in some summery vibes can visit a selection of flower shows:

- Pawlett Flower Show on Saturday. 

Judging takes place 10:30am until 12pm and then the show opens to the public at 3pm.

Fancy dress takes places around 2:30pm when the band will also be ready to play.

- Seavington Flower show at Seavington Millennium Hall takes place on Saturday.

The show opens to the public at 2.30pm and the cups are presented at 3.30pm. 

There will be plants for sale as well as refreshments and a raffle. 

The event is free to enter.

  • Woolavington village show is being held on Saturday August 13.

    Based in the village hall, the show begins at 12pm, with the auction taking place at 3pm.

    There are a variety of programmes to enter, as well as free events, a cup presentation and a car boot sale.

    All residents should have been delivered a free programme.

  • Burnham Horticultural Society’s Annual Show takes place on Saturday August 13th at the Community Centre Berrow Road.

The show is open to the public from 1.00pm until 6.00pm and admission is free.

Presentation of trophies and awards takes place at 6.10pm.

  • North Curry Village Show takes place on Saturday, 13th August in the main hall.

There is a wide range of classes to enter, from flowers and vegetables to arts and crafts, and many types of cookery.

  • The Wiveliscombe Town Band will be performing at the band stand in Vivary Park. 

The performance takes place at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
