A NEW Burnham hairdressers is set to make its mark on the town with a charity fun day.

John Edminston, who is opening his first barber shop at 35 Victoria Street, is raising money for In Charley’s Memory.

The charity raises money and awareness for mental health and was set up by Burnham mum Jo Clement after her son Charley Marks, took his own life at the age of 18 after dealing with depression and anxiety.

The event will take place on Sunday, August 14 from 11am until around 4pm.

Mr Edminston said: “I am opening a barber shop and I thought I would do an open day. I asked a few of my friends who live in the area which charity I should raise money for and they all recommended In Charley’s Memory because it is close to them personally.

“There will be a raffle, a bouncy castle, a DJ to do music and a nail painting services.

“We are going to try and do as much as we can to raise as much money as possible for the charity. We have got about 20 raffle prizes so far donated by local businesses.

“I am also going to do some charity haircuts with all proceeds going to In Charley’s Memory.

“I have to say a big thank you to the Barclays Bank because they have kindly allowed us to use their car park for the bouncy castle.

“The event is supposed to finish at 4pm but if there are people that still want to hang about and have a glass of wine then they are very welcome to.

“I have also sent invitations to local businesses to come along or donate raffle prizes.”

Mr Edmiston aims to offer customers an opportunity to enjoy a traditional high end barber experience in a relaxing environment.
