A SCHOOLGIRL from Taunton has recently become a published author thanks to the League of Friends of Musgrove Park Hospital.

Kitty Chapple, from King’s Hall School entered a competition ran by the League of Friends alongside her classmates and other schools in the area.

The children were asked to finish a story about a baby dragon, written by League of Friends member Richard Addyman.

He said: “The standard was very high, but the judges found Kitty’s story the most imaginative and entertaining.”

Local illustrator Mark Burgess offered to illustrate Kitty’s writing so it could be published into a colourful book.

Kitty was presented with a copy of “The Tale of the Baby Dragon” by Peter Renshaw at Brendan Books in Bath Place. She was greeted with a window display full of her newly published book.

Mr Renshaw, chairman of the League of Friends, said: “We are very grateful to Brendan Books for their collaboration in selling Kitty’s book, which we hope will make some well-needed funds for Musgrove. Thank you to Kitty for her help.”

Kitty’s book will be on sale in the High Street during Taunton Flower Show on August 5 and 6 as well as in the hospital shop.

Mr Renshaw added: “My grandchildren enjoyed Kitty’s story very much and it will make a good present.”

The Tale of the Baby Dragon is on sale for £5. all the proceeds will go to the League of Friends at Musgrove Park Hospital.
