DO you think Williton's Library and registration service should be moved into the West Somerset Council offices?

That is the question Somerset County Council is putting to residents as part of a new consultation on library services.

The proposals form part of Somerset County Council’s plan to create a number of ‘hubs’ in key towns across the county which will bring several public services together under one roof and provide modern, flexible spaces to meet local community needs.

By sharing space with partners like district councils, residents can get all the help they might need in one place. It will help to protect our services by making them more sustainable for the future by reducing costs.

Public drop-in sessions are taking place to give residents an opportunity to view plans, ask questions and give us their feedback. Sessions will take place on:

• Monday 22 August, from 10am until 1pm, at Williton Library

• Tuesday 23 August, from 10am until 1pm, at West Somerset Council Building

• Tuesday 23 August, from 2pm until 5pm, at the West Somerset Council building

• Wednesday 24 August, from 2pm until 5pm, at Williton Library

David Hall, cabinet member for business, investment and policy, said: “Your feedback is really important in the development of these projects going forward.

"We need to make sure that services are fit for the future, while delivering much needed financial savings. We understand that different areas will have different needs, so we must work with local communities to develop approaches, which reflect these needs and demands.”

A decision is due to be made about the future of Library and Registration services in September, following the public engagement.
