MEMBERS of the Women’s Institute have been making beautiful hanging baskets, but if you look carefully, you may see something unusual about these ‘braskets’.

Local WI groups have been recycling old bras and turning them into hanging baskets for the WI Sustainable Gardening Hanging ‘Brasket’ Competition 2016.

Every WI can enter one 'brasket' into the competition, and Taunton Deane Divas WI held their own competition on Monday to decide their entry.

Jen Whitworth, president of Taunton Deane Divas WI, said: “Jane from Eden Florist was our guest speaker this evening as well as our brasket judge!

“She selected Sue Wilson’s brasket as our winning entry.”

The competition, will see 3 ‘braskets’ winning a voucher from Sutton Seeds, who sponser the competition.

There is a £200 voucher for 1st place, £100 for second place, and £50 for third place.

The competition entry from reads: “Due to their shape, bra’s are ideal as hanging ‘braskets’ – they can be used singly, in pairs or as bunting!

“WIs are invited to use their imagination and have some fun at re-using bra’s as hanging basket containers.”

Taunton Deane Divas meet at St James Church hall, 7.30pm every third Monday of the month.
