A TOTAL of £2,914.27 was raised for the County Gazette-backed cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment over the past fortnight.
The money goes towards equipping the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Donations in collection pots included £34.24 from Tesco, in Lisieux Way, Taunton; £43.95 from Londis, Bridgwater; and £136 at Hambridge Post Office.
Collections of 5p coins totalled £35 from Smeatharpe WI; £84.05 from Blagdon Retirement Village; £11.65 from Audrey Winter and friends of the Monday Club in Galmington; and £15.50 from Terry Quinlan, of Taunton.
A bucket collection at Morrisons, Glastonbury raised £217.75, while there was £10 from Mr and Mrs Kellaway, £384 raised during the Annette Gregory Cup darts competition in Minehead and £20 from a collection box by Mr and Mrs R. S. Smith, of Puriton.
Mr and Mrs D. L. Reason handed over £60 from a birthday celebration and £1,000 came from the New Horizon Singers, donated from concerts throughout the year.
Margaret Newton, of Burnham-on-Sea donated £500 to say thank you for treatment she has received, and £40 came from Mrs Pile.
A total of £322.13 was handed over by the Beacon Centre.
