SIX men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary, money laundering and being concerned in the supply of drugs in Bridgwater.

The men, who are all from London, were arrested in a property on the Bower Estate on the night of June 29, at around 10.30pm.

Residents alerted Avon and Somerset Police after seeing people coming and going from a property they knew to be empty.

After making contact with the tenant, who is currently out of the area, officers confirmed the house was supposed to be unoccupied.

Officers gained entry and arrested the six men on suspicion of burglary.

They searched the property and found large amounts of cash and drug paraphernalia, and the men were further arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs and money laundering offences.

PC Jennifer Atkinson, from the Bridgwater Beat Team, said: "We are really grateful to local residents who were clearly looking out for their neighbours and community, and alerted us as to their concerns.

"As a result, we have made some significant arrests and we will now be working with our partners in the local authority housing department, to ensure that the property is protected.

"We will not tolerate drug dealing or related crime in Bridgwater.

"We want to hear from anyone with information about suspected dealing, from anyone with concerns that neighbours, relatives or friends may be vulnerable to drug dealers and from anyone suffering as a result of drug related anti-social behaviour.

"Keep talking to us. We are listening, we are taking action and we want to work with you to deal with this issue.

"We are also working with partners across Somerset to help people with addictions, so please get in touch either with us or an agency such as Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service on 0300 303 8788."
