IT’S CELEBRATION time over at Creech St Michael Primary School.

It has recently been given a Good rating from Ofsted, after previously being told that it re- quired improvement.

The school was praised on a number of points in the report, which highlighted the effective work of the leadership to tackle the issues for improvements.

The reported added that this meant the school has a strong ca- pacity to improve further.

Also praised was the pupils’ attainment by age 11 and all pupils were said to enjoy learning.

Inspectors added: “Pupils are very positive about the excel- lent quality of care and support which the school provides for all pupils, especially the most vul- nerable ones.

“In lessons, teachers plan successfully to develop English and mathematical skills across a wide range of subjects and topics.”

Head teacher Mrs Jan McCarthy expressed delight at the re- port.

She told parents: “The children themselves were the greatest tes- timony to the work of you as parents and us as a school.

“The dedication of our teachers and governors has been acknowledged by the inspectors.

“We were proud that the report said that the school’s work to pro- mote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding.

There were several other areas that were discussed in our feed- back as being close to outstanding. We will continue to build on this success and to reflect on ways to improve further.”
