CROWDS flocked to Taunton town centre for a packed day of entertainment at this year's Somerfest.

There was plenty to see and do with activities and entertainment spread throughout the day from 11am to 10pm on Saturday.

The weather slowly turned from suspiciously cloudy to warm, and the rain kept away making for a great atmosphere in the town.

Somerfest is organised by Fuseperformance and funded by Taunton Deane Borough Council and the Arts Council, and organiser Sally Mann said this year's event was a great success with thousands of people turning out.

"Audiences came out with the good weather and made this year's Somerfest the best and biggest yet with international artists and community artists working side by side to create a relaxing and enjoyable day," she said.

"People commented on how well it had been advertised and how well it was organised with something for everyone. Children played on the beach, parents enjoyed the deck chairs. The Secret Garden was one of the many favourites with fairies and miniature gardens."

The town was buzzing with activity with activities and entertainment in the High Street, on Castle Green and through Goodland Gardens.

There was a wide variety of amazing refreshment stalls, plenty for the kids to do with fairground rides, puppet shows and crafts and street entertainment as well as some great live music, plus many local organisations and charities had stalls helping to raise awareness for good causes.

"We look forward to working next year with all the communities in Taunton from schools and colleges, community groups, local businesses and shops, sports organisations and many others in creating an even better Somerfest and would really like to hear from you with your ideas for next year and how we can include you in next years festivities, email us at somerfest.gmail.com," Mrs Mann said.
