FOR music lovers in Somerset, the wait is finally over.

An evening of classic jazz with two musicians, four instruments and a character singer is to be held at Cossington Village Hall on Saturday June 11.

Mike Denham and Steve Graham will play classic ragtime, popular melodies by Fats Waller and Irving Berlin, eight-to-the-bar boogie-woogies, and the jazz of Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke.

This will be mixed with anecdotes about these figures and the lives they all led.

Steve Graham is a highly acclaimed musician fluent on both trumpet and mandolin, while Mike Denham is a fine solo pianist and occasional exponent of the Swannee whistle.

Guest Hamish Maxwell will join the pair, singing in the style of the immortal George Melly.

The evening will begin at 8pm and seats can be reserved.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from Roger Collett by phoning 01278 451187 or e-mailing rogercollett.sounds@talktalk.net
