IT WAS a Mediterranean cruise with a slight difference.
Residents at the Rosary Nursing Home in Bridgwater enjoyed a day of virtual trips around destinations including France, Greece, Spain and Italy.
The event was held over the course of a week starting on May 23, with activities such as plate smashing in Greece, pizza making in Italy and a game of boules in France.
Residents also enjoyed sampling traditional cuisine from the countries they have been virtually jet-setting to and dressing in themed attire for the special days.
Richard Cummins, 78-year-old-resident, said: “I really enjoyed our cruise, especially the Greek plate smashing.”
Alloray Crookston, 84, said: “All the activities were fun and they reminded me of when I used to enjoy cruises when I was younger.”
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader, Andree Chandler, said: "Some of our residents are very well travelled so we wanted to bring a Mediterranean cruise to their doorstop to help bring back the lovely memories of times spent with their families and friends – it will definitely be a cruise to remember."
