ANIMAL lovers across the county are invited to enjoy an up-close and personal experience with all things feathered and fluffy.

A Beaks and Squeaks event is being held at Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill on bank holiday weekend from May 28 to 30.

Visitors can see some of the injured and orphaned that have been rescued birds being cared for, find out what to do if you find a bird that seems to be in trouble, as well as learning how to support birds where you live.

Children can make their own bird feeder to take home.

Event organiser, Jeremy Duxbury, said: "We get hundreds of calls every month from people asking us how to care for wildlife.

"At Beaks and Squeaks we want to give people the opportunity to find out what they can do to help, and the chance to see some of our fascinating native wildlife up close. "People of all ages love coming face to face with the tiny harvest mice, lovable hedgehogs and our impressive resident owls.

"We’re opening our doors to the public for just three special weekends this year.

"Beaks and Squeaks is the second of our open weekends and we’re looking forward to welcoming people to our rural site for a truly unique experience."

Beaks and Squeaks opens daily from 10am to 4pm from Saturday May 28 to Monday May 30, with a late afternoon session of jazz and cream teas, extending to 7pm on the Sunday.

During the daytime, guests can enjoy wildlife talks, family activities, craft stalls and food.

Entry is free but donations are welcome, as Secret World relies on supporters.

All day parking is £1 per vehicle.
