I quite like May. The month that is, not Lady May in Mr Selfridge, not that there’s anything wrong with her. Anyway, I digress. The mornings get lighter, the days are longer, the weather is usually better (which has probably just cursed it) plus we get two Bank Holidays as well. It also heralds the start of our outside roadshow style events. Although the first one is inside. On Saturday 14th May we’ll be broadcasting live from Angel Place Shopping Centre for Feel The Force day, which is shaping up to be an amazing event. Look out for the posters or do a quick search on Facebook for more details of who, what, when etc. Make sure you come down and say hi on the day and you can meet some of the station team as well as taking part in some of the activities.

The nicer weather also brings out more cyclists as well. As you may well know I have no issue with cyclists in general. Over the years I have undertaken many cycling challenges across the country although my fastest days are long behind me now. However, I do get a little miffed when cyclists blatantly ignore things like traffic lights or just think they can cycle down the pavement then swing onto a crossing without even looking to see if they are able to cross. Motorists are constantly being reminded to give more room to cyclists and to be bike aware, but I think cyclists should also remember to be car and lorry aware too.

Finally, the answer to last week’s teaser: In which century was St Mary’s Church in the centre of town built? The 13th century. This week’s teaser: In which year did the Bridgwater and Taunton canal open? No cheating, I’ll give you the answer in next week’s column. Have a great week.
