STUDENTS from Chilton Trinity students have raised nearly £1000 for a blood cancer charity in memory of ex-student Luke Buckingham, who died last year from the illness.
Luke's wife Holly - also an ex-Chilton student - received a cheque for the Bloodwise charity from the school during an assembly.
The students spent a week of charity fundraising during their RAG events, taking part in activities such as a spinning competition, bingo, running a mile, staff versus students dodgeball, cake sale, non-uniform and a just dance off.
There was also a penalty shoot out and a football match and the students donated £500 to Sports Relief.
Head teacher, Lesley Greenway, said: "What a week it was.
"We are so very delighted with how it went and have been bowled over by the generosity and commitment of students, staff and our community to such a great cause.
"Bloodwise is a charity that we were especially eager to support, following the very sad passing of Luke Buckingham last summer.
"We wanted to be able to add to the amazing £50,000 that has already been raised by Luke, his friends family and the community.
"Well done to all those that took part and a huge thank you for your wonderful generosity."
