PEOPLE keen to find out how to make their own sausages and salami at home are being invited to a workshop on the topic at a restaurant near Bridgwater next week.

The event is being hosted at Clavelshay Barn Restaurant on Tuesday, April 26 by the award-winning restauranteur Sue Milverton with Donna Lucking of Countryfile fame.

Mrs Milverton said: “This workshop is an introduction to making sausages and salami at home and is ideal for those looking to explore the art. It promises to be great fun too!

“The idea is to inspire anyone who attends to take ingredients and invent their own additive and preservative free sausages and salami.

“This hands-on workshop will be led by Donna Lucking of Countryfile fame from Ellises Farm at Hemyock. Starting with choosing the right pork, and pig for that matter, Donna will talk about her experiences keeping free range, rare breed pigs and butchering the cuts for sausages.”

All the equipment, ingredients and worksheets will be provided.

“At the end of the day you get to take the sausages you have made home with you and, most importantly, be equipped with the knowledge and skill to recreate these sausages at home.”

On the day, Clavelshay Barn Restaurant will be serving lunch with wine and local juices, along with salami and cured meats to sample.

The event takes place on Tuesday, April 26 from 10.30am until 4.30pm and is priced £85 per person. Call 01278 662629 or visit www.clavelshaybarn.co.uk.
