IT was a blooming marvellous weekend with not one but two successful flower shows taking place in Wellington and Corfe.

The sun shone at the Wellington event which saw both entry numbers and visitor numbers go up and the committee were delighted to see some new exhibitors at the show.

The judge, Phil Kerton, commented on the high quality of the exhibits and it was pleasing to see an increase in the number of children’s exhibits.

The hall at Wellington Prep School was filled with a host of golden daffodils and floating hellebore heads.

White Post Nurseries had beautiful plants for sale and there was an unusual collection of blooms – made of Lego!

The Wellington summer show will be held on Saturday, August 27 and schedules will be available from late May/early June.

Meanwhile also on Saturday, Corfe Village Hall was also filled to the brim with various brightly coloured floral arrangements, this year with a nursery rhyme theme.

There were two photography classes, three baking classes and classes for children were also included, and the judges were very impressed with the standard achieved throughout the whole show.

Chairman, Barbara Wells, thanked all who had supported the show which despite the unfavourable weather had produced some wonderful exhibits.

Corfe and Pitminster Gardening Society welcomes new members and visitors at all meetings- please contact the secretary on 01823 421712 for details.
