SAMPHIRE, a new independent music and arts festival for Exmoor, has just announced it is increasing its capacity and releasing 400 more tickets for it’s inaugural year.

The first Samphire Festival will take place from the 8th-10th July 2016 on Porlock Hill in Somerset. Due to a demand for ticket sales, the organisers have increased the capacity from 500 people to 1,000.

The festival became incredibly popular on Crowdfunder where the organisers were raising the start up money they needed. They were the fastest funded festival on the South West fundraising platform.

Samphire Festival co-founder, Josh Beauchamp commented: “We've been blown away by the demand for festival tickets and are thrilled to be increasing our capacity to invite more people into the Samphire family. We still wanted to keep our event intimate and our capacity allows us to do exactly this. We’re super excited to welcome Samphire onto the festival scene."

Located right on the coast in Exmoor National Park, this ‘back to basics’ festival will see over 40 different live acts with music from folk, funk, house, techno, ska, reggae, afrobeat, pop, indie, jazz and disco.

The line up has been kept fairly secret by the organisers but they are due to release the full line up next weekend (9th April). We're expecting to see a diverse and talented group of bands, singers and DJs performing over the weekend. Rumours have hinted at the dark pop duo Ardyn, folk-rock band Hunter and the Bear, Percolate’s disco diva’s Krywald and Farrer and BBC up and comer Violet Skies. We have also heard on the grapevine Bills Eels “Porlock Weir’s very own band” will be gracing the stage.

The festival is named after the edible plant found on the marshes and the aim of Samphire is a very simple one; to enjoy great music with great people set against a unique and stunning backdrop, whilst we put our digital lives on hold, just for a bit.
