FIREFIGHTERS were called to a crash between a van and a car in Tivington Knowle, near Selworthy, Minehead last night (March 31).

When the firefighters arrived all people involved were free and clear of the vehicles, however two casualties (one from each vehicle) required first aid.

Duty of care was then left with the police and ambulance service.

It is not known how serious the injuries are, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire Service said: "Two fire appliances from Minehead, together with a rescue tender from Taunton, were mobilised following a request from ambulance for our attendance to a two-vehicle road traffic collision, van and a car, and it was reported that persons were trapped.

"However, on arrival, crews confirmed that all persons were free and clear of the vehicles, although two casualties (one from each vehicle) required first aid which fire crews rendered until ambulance crews arrived.

"Once on scene, duty of care for the casualties was left with paramedics and our crews then made both the vehicles, and scene, safe.

"Duty of care for the incident was then left with police."
