FARMER and businessman Aaron Foot has been chosen as to stand as UKIP's candidate in the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

Mr Foot grew up near Bristol and was educated in Kingswood before studying farming at Lackham College in Wiltshire.

He went self-employed on leaving college in 2008 and entered straight into the dairy industry.

In 2013 he brought a free holding in Somerset and set up his own dairy farm.

He has an extensive background in managing and running a medium-sized rural business in Coleford, where he also sits as a councillor.

Previously he has been a council candidate for UKIP for South Gloucestershire Council and also Mendip District Council.

Mr Foot said: "Too often people believe Avon and Somerset begins and ends in Bristol and Bath and forget about those great many people living in the rural areas of North Somerset, East Somerset, West Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

"If elected I will ensure that no areas of Avon and Somerset are forgotten and I will continue to support the good work of the rural crime team and ensure they are properly resourced."
