TAUNTON girls Kirsty Newman and Olivia Brown gave her pocket money to a cancer charity.
Kirsty's donation of £5.80 and Olivia's £8.40 were given to the County Gazette-backed Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment, which helps equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Other donations included £250 from Jane House through the Carols in the Cattleshed concert at Tetton Farm, Kington St Mary.
A coin collection from villagers at Kingston St Mary raised £41.50, while there was £50 from Mrs S. M. Woodland, from Creech St Michael, and her family and friends.
Andrew and Tina Potter, family and friends collected £22.15 in 5p coins, while there were donations of £108.55 from Haygrove School, in Bridgwater, and £20 donation from Mr and Mrs J W Cameron.
The amount collected from the Beacon Centre was £123.33, mainly in 5p coins.
The week's total of £629.73 means £582,756.51 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
