THE children of Porlock have been taking on the Winter Reading Challenge at the village library, with a little help from the Porlock Carnival Club.
The Winter Reading Challenge asks children aged 4-12 to read 12 books between January 4 and April 9, and for each book they collect a 'challenge card' which goes into a personal booklet.
The Porlock Carnival Committee has donated £150 towards the challenge and the cheque was presented by carnival committee member Chris Gladstone to library volunteers Mary Perkins, Amanda Elliot and Kay Wright.
They also offer one-to-one computer tuition, a jigsaw puzzle loan service and host coffee mornings. If you are interested in the Winter Reading Challenge or any of the above services, please contact them at The Old School Centre, Porlock, or visit their Facebook page.
