Chimney fire forces occupant to evacuate home in Langport
A PERSON was told to evacuate their home following a chimney fire in Pitney Hill near Langport this morning.
A fire engine from Somerton was sent to a property at Pitney Hill following a call from the occupant of a supported living accommodation reporting that they had a chimney fire and smoke was filling the room.
The caller was advised to open their windows, evacuate and to await our attendance.
The crew used chimney gear to extinguish the fire from the hearth, before checking for hotspots within the chimney, using a thermal imaging camera.
After giving some fire safety advice, duty of care was left with the residents.
