PEOPLE have donated hundreds of pounds in loose change to a Taunton-based cancer charity over the past week.
Collection pots for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal raised £34.58 at Tesco Express, Lisieux Way, Taunton; £184.27 at the Barleymow's Farm Shop and Restaurant, Chard; and £28.16 at the One Stop Shop, Galmington.
The County Gazette-backed charity raises money to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
And further tin donations included £36.29 at the fish and chip shop, Norton Fitzwarren; £39.07 at the Constitutional Club, Bishop's Hull; £15.90 at the Esso garage, Wellington Road, Taunton; £83.15 at Tesco Express, Comeytrowe.
There were 5p coin donations of £1.65 from Trevor Warner; £5 from the New Horizon Singers; £1.80 from D Fisher, of Wellington; £20 from Chris Branfield; £10 from Vivien Winter and Jenny Wakefield.
Mr and Mrs Kellaway gave £10, with £98.66 from the Munchkins Café and the Fairfaxes of Bridgwater and £136.80 from the Beacon Centre, which included £126.80 in 5ps.
The week's total of £706.33 means £580,351.89 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
