THE sister of a paedophile who turned himself in to police after his conscience got the better of him says she hopes he “rots in jail” after claiming he also raped her.

Graham Matthews walked into Taunton Police Station days before Christmas and confessed to his attacks over several years on two girls aged under 13.

Matthews, 57, of Roman Road, Taunton, faces a lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty at Taunton Crown Court on Friday to 18 sex offences against the children.

He admitted rape, sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

But after reading about the case at countygazette.co.uk Sue Guest waived her right to anonymity to tell how her brother sexually abused her and raped her over almost four decades.

“He’s a monster and I hope he rots in jail,” said Ms Guest, who moved to Birmingham to get away from Matthews.

“He’d come into my room when I was about four and sexually touch me and he progressed to raping me into my 40s.

“He’d say, ‘You know you want it’. I’d say, ‘Don’t come near me, leave me alone’. But it was like talking to a brick wall – he’d force himself onto me.”

Ms Guest reported Matthews to police over a decade ago and the court handed him a community order with a rehabilitation requirement for child sex offences.

She said: “Now he’s done it again, it’s brought it all back. I relive it every day. I never want to see him again.

“Our parents died without knowing what happened. Everyone thinks he’s disgusting.

“I want justice so he never walks free from prison.”

Matthews, who appeared at Taunton Crown Court on Friday via video link from Exeter Prison, where he is on remand, committed the latest offences between January 2012 and last October.

He stared downwards as he pleaded guilty to each individual charge.

Ian Dixey, prosecuting, said: “He walked into the police station on December 15 and indicated that he wanted to admit the offences."

“At that stage there had been no complaint from the children.”

Mr Dixey said Matthews “clearly has a problem” with young girls, citing his previous conviction.

Adjourning the case for sentencing on February 18, Judge Geoffrey Mercer QC remanded Matthews in custody, placed him on the Sex Offenders’ Register and ordered a pre-sentence report.
