PUPILS were wowed last week as Holyrood's Got Talent was put on at the Chard School.

The Academy event was organised by sixth-form students who showcased and judged the most talented pupils at Holyrood.

The senior team, led by Courteney Yeoell, held numerous auditions during school and then invited the finalists to show off their talents at an evening spectacle in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society.

Judges were Holyrood principal Martin Brook, governor Jonathan Farey and his daughter Jemima Farey.

Mr Farey said: “It was extremely hard to choose one winning act because they were all so talented yet so different.

“Among the hugely talented magicians, dancers and singers was the winner, Moet Yamada from Year 7.

"Despite never having had any professional training and being completely self-taught Moet was truly amazing with her exceptional gymnastic routine and boundless ability.”

Runners-up were a team of gymnasts Maddie Grabham, Ellie Hull, Ellie Knight and Cerys Llewelyn, all from Year 8.

Jemima said: “These girls were brilliant as a team but were all extremely talented individually as well.”

The evening was compered by the very entertaining the school's very own Ant and Dec, Sam Hunt and Ethan Smith.

Audiences were further entertained by the Sixth Form Band of Courteney Yeoell, Otterly Farey, John Davis and Jordan Barker, and Poppy Orr-Ewing from Year 9 on her violin.

A total of £426 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society and a huge amount of fun had by all.
