STUDENTS and staff at Hamp Academy in Bridgwater are enjoying their new sensory garden, after it was officially opened back in the autumn.
On Tuesday October 21, school caretaker, Steve Manley, did the honours of opening the feature, which provides a quiet place of reflection for the 270 pupils and is dedicated to Steve's late wife.
The garden was designed by landscape architect, Michelle Martin.
It was funded by a benevolent foundation grant from Wessex Provident Association (WPA) and the Lynn Macriner- Manley fund, a Hamp community fund that was set up too provide a memorial to her memory.
Luke Talmage, head teacher of Hamp Academy, said: "We are pleased to be able to open this garden today and name it in the honour of Lynn, the wife of Steve Manley, our school caretaker, who sadly passed away six years ago.
"I never had the honour of meeting Lynn but understand from her friends and family, that she was known by many on the Hamp estate, for the selfless help that she provided for many families throughout 25 years."
